Grid info: LBH

LBH (short for Length Behind) refers to the distance behind the winner the horse finished (placed).

Things to note about LBH:

    • The LBH is measured in units of a horse length. Therefore “0.5” means half a horse length behind the winner.
    • The LBH of a winning horse is technically zero (0) but this limits the use of LBH on certain views, e.g. when we list a winner in the horse history, for instance, then how would we know by how far the horse won? We solve this by displaying the LBH as a negative value. Therefore “-1.5” means the horse won by one and a half lengths.
    • An LBH of “99” means that the LBH is of no value. The horse could have been disqualified, for instance.
    • An LBH of “0” or blank usually means the LBH was not recorded for that race.

Usage

The LBH is used by a form studier to know by what distance the winning horse won and how far behind the winning horse other horses came. This information becomes extremely valuable in the LBH Tool.
