Formline Finder

The Formline Finder is a tool to help find formlines. The Formline Finder tool can be accessed and used in two ways:
  • From the menu
  • From a Race Card (Type A, Type B or Type C) or a Result

Formline Finder from Top Menu

Access the Formline tool from the main menu

This is the generalised way to use the tool. The search is not restricted to a particular card or result.

In this case the report excludes the source information.

However, the search can be refined by selecting a particular country from the Navigation Bar.

Formline Finder from a Racecard or a Result

Starting the Formline Finder from a racecard or a result (using the green menu) restricts the search to the horses in that Racecard or that Result. Only horses in that card or result are are included and you will find them listed in the Form source data column.

Using the Formline Finder Toolbar

The toolbar in the Formline tool
Sort by:How the output is sequenced. Can be in date order or number of wins found or the percentage (%). Any of these can be in ascending or descending sequence. A good choice is "% (descending)" to get the top formlines at the top.
Going back:The number of months to search back from. A higher month value will take longer but can also return "formlines" that are false. A good choice is "3 months".
Formlines:The purists believe that only the "immediate" formlines are valuable. The "immediate" formlines refers to the column of grids that immediately follow the race identified. "Subsequent" refers to the grids to the right of "immediate". But you can have the system search for "Immediate only" or "Immediate plus subsequent".
Immediate and subsequent formlines
Place:The purists believe that only the "immediate" formlines are valuable. The "immediate" formlines refers to the column of grids that immediately follow the race identified. "Subsequent" refers to the grids to the right of "immediate". But you can have the system search for "Immediate only" or "Immediate plus subsequent".

How to read the output

The output lists all races found that have a formline. The display is divided into two parts:

  1. Information about the race:
    • Date: this is a link to the actual race result.
    • Venue
    • Dist: The distance the race was over
    • Wins: shows the number of wins and the number of results (in parenthesis) that have run after this race. Note: only races in the “immediate” or “subsequent” columns are calculated.
    • % (percentage): this calculates the percentage of wins in the number of results that have come out.
    • Winner: the horse that won that race
  2. Details about that race:
    • The output differs slightly whether you finding formlines in a general sense or whether you are finding formline for a particular race card or result:
      • The general search does not include info in the “From source” part.
      • The racecard output also includes a shortened version of a racecard.
    • Coming out to win/2nd column: Lists the horse that is in either the “immediate” or “subsequent” columns as a winner or came 2nd. (See above diagram.) For example: If you clicked on a “immediate” then the winner you see in that race is listed. And so it is for each win or 2nd in the “immediate” and “subsequent” columns.
    • The Wins column shows the number of wins and a mini graph in green.
    • The 2nd’s column shows the number of 2nd’s and a mini graph in yellow.
    • The From source column lists any horse that from the source Result or Card that ran in the found formline race. It includes the following information:
      • Fin: Finish position
      • LBH: The length behind the winner (seeLBHfor more info)
      • Dr: The draw (which gate the horse started from)
      • Wght: The weight carried by the horse
